In recent years, we've seen a lot of nostalgia for pipes along the lines of ones that were popular in the 50s and 60s, especially the small, straight, lightweight briars from France. We recently came across some decades-old French pipes that look like they came out of a late 50s Father's Day ad. These were almost certainly made before 1970, and the briar is fully cured and super-light. They come in a variety of classic shapes and feature golden stain with a simulated charred appearance on the top third. They also have faux-bakelite stems. The package gives the appearance of a well-smoked meerschaum.
